Photography Courses: Back to School for Fall
We love fall, don’t you? The weather is gorgeous. The last flowers of summer are still blooming, but that famed New England foliage is beginning to emerge , too. The opportunities for breathtaking photos are endless. But, what if your skills with the camera, or the composition of photos, or photo editing don’t quite live up to the splendor of the scenery? We can help. We’re launching a full schedule of photography courses, beginning this week.
First up is our Photography Beyond the Basics course, an 8 week course that focuses on the artistic aspects of photography. We’ll talk about composition, creativity, and visual design, and how to use all of them to take photos that are works of art, not just good images. At the end of the course, exhibit your work to the public at our Art Gallery Show. This is the first of the photography courses we’re offering for fall, and it begins this Wednesday, September 10th. Even at this late date, we have a couple of seats left. If you’re very comfortable with your camera, but find that your photos still lack that bit of magic, this is the course for you.
On Tuesday, September 16th, we launch the second of our photography courses, Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Unleashed. Lightroom is a powerful tool for both organizing and editing your photos. We use it to manage the workflow of all the shoots we do, and we find it invaluable. It can be complex, though. Let us be your guide – for 4 weeks, anyway. Our course will walk you through the steps of setting up shoot folders. We’ll show you how to title and organize your photos such that you’ll be able to find a specific image, even years after you capture it. And we’ll show you all the amazing editing tools Lightroom offers to make your photos pop.
And, finally, on September 25th, the third of our fall photography courses, Photography the Basics, kicks off. This 6-week course will get you comfortable with your camera. You’ll get out of auto mode and escape the cycle of frustration that can result when you see a great shot, but lack the know-how to set the aperture, ISO and shutter speed to capture what’s in your mind’s eye. We often say about this course: if your camera is great, but your photos aren’t, this is the course for you.
In addition to our photography courses, we’re launching two new programs that we’re really excited about: monthly workshops and eLearning Videos. Our monthly workshops will be held for three hours on a Saturday, and each will focus on one topic. These can be great for C1M Alumni who need to brush up on one aspect of photography they may have gotten rusty on – or for anyone who has their craft almost down pat but needs to fill a gap or two. Our eLearning Videos provide the same great instruction as our in-house courses, but they put you in control of the schedule. If two hours on a weeknight means our photography courses don’t work for you, our eLearning Videos may be the answer. They will be available soon – and you can be sure there will be some fanfare when they do, so stay tuned!
As always, all the details about our photography courses and classes, as well as the most current schedule are available on our website at www.nh-photography. Pay us a visit, virtually or in person. We’d love to help you unleash your inner photographer.
