  • Your Social Media Profile Photo Matters, Too

You’ve probably noticed that we talk a lot on this blog about business executive headshots. We do literally hundreds of these a year, and we really feel we’ve perfected the process. We take our time – typically an hour and half to two hours per client. Most people know that their headshot needs to be professional and polished, but there’s one area that people tend to overlook.

If you have a social media profile that you use for business, the profile photo you choose matters more than you might think. There’s a trend on social media sites to use profile photos that are very casual. Many people us candid photos, shots taken by a friend, or pieces cropped out of larger photos, where it’s clear that that’s what has been done. This approach is fine for a personal social media profile. If you’re using your social media profile for business, though, a casual photo doesn’t show you in your best, most polished and professional light. That could be detrimental to your business. Perhaps you don’t have the time to invest in a two-hour profile photo shoot. Perhaps you feel that the price point for such an investment is just too high right now. Maybe you’re just starting out in business or are new to the job market and don’t need photos for business cards and websites yet. But you do need to network. You need to create that web of connections that will help you break into your chosen field, or land you that job that could become your dream career. If that’s the case, we can still help.

From time to time, we run a social media profile photo special. We offer this at a substantially lower price than our business executive headshot program. On a Saturday morning, you come in for a 15-minute swift session, and we craft a professional-looking social media profile photo that will draw the eye of potential clients or employers. Making sure your social media presence is polished and business-appropriate is just good sense. Listen to what Nicole, a young professional from Amherst, NH had to say about her social media profile photo day experience: “I was concerned about the lack of professionalism in the profile photo I was using. Being in New Hampshire, there aren’t a lot of options for places to go for a professional business photo. Walter was very knowledgable and very helpful with tips about what works and what doesn’t for a professional shot. I think the profile photo he gave me will appeal much more to potential employers when they search on me after I go on interviews.”
