  • Professional headshots and the biggest misconception you may have:

Most are satisfied with their professional headshots if they like the photo and maybe even get a lot of compliments about it. I actually had one client tell me that he used the previous photo because his mother liked it. And that is nice.
However, having nice pictures doesn’t mean you have effective professional headshots. The only thing that really matters is what your prospective clients think when they see the photo. Or even better, what impression they get about you from just seeing your headshot.
Someone much smarter than me worked out that communication is 100% on the receiver. Meaning that, it doesn’t matter what you say. What is being understood is what counts and the only thing capable of making a difference.
So who do your prospective clients look for? For whom are they searching? Who do they need to meet when they come to your page?
We usually go by a simple formula that has proven extremely effective: pick your wardrobe for your professional headshots as if you were going to meet a really important client for the first time. Think about 3 adjectives that your prospective client needs to find in you. We often hear professional, confident and approachable.
Before I go, though: You should have a nice portrait of yourself that your mother loves. She deserves at least that from you, after all she has done for you. There are not nearly enough portraits out there that your mother loves. Not nearly enough.
    – Just don’t use them for business.

“I was impressed by the amount of time Walter took to get the pose and composition correct. He really helped me figure out what message I wanted to put out there with my photos and was able to adjust the photos to bring out exactly what I was trying to accomplish. I definitely would recommend C1M to people that are looking for professional headshots.”
