  • High School Senior Photos the C1M Way

high school senior photosRecently, I was talking with a colleague, and he mentioned that he was trying to shave his sessions for high school senior photos from 17 minutes down to 12. While this approach may work for my colleague, I’ve found myself moving in the opposite direction. A senior portrait isn’t just a school photo, and a senior photo session shouldn’t have the cattle-call feeling of pictures in the school gym.

We find that getting great, natural-looking photos that connect takes more than one session. This is why we don’t charge a session fee for high school senior photos. When there is a session fee involved, naturally, the client’s focus often becomes getting all the photos taken in a single session. And the quality suffers for it. The seniors aren’t as relaxed, so they don’t seem to connect with the camera well. That shows in photos that look stiff and posed. Eliminating session fees takes away the pressure of getting it “done in one,” and puts the focus where it should be: on creating keepsakes to be treasured long after the milestone of high school graduation is a distant memory. On delivering much more than a cookie-cutter yearbook photo. That’s our commitment to you, and eliminating session fees helps us fulfill that promise.

Because we’re known for our awesome studio work, all our high school seniors start out with a studio shoot. It’s exciting – even a little bit glamorous. That’s an experience we want to share with you. Not only that, but with the huge monitor in our studio, you get instant feedback on what your photos look like. When you see how good you can look, you’ll relax in front of the camera. Then the real fun begins and the truly unique images emerge. I cannot imagine accomplishing that in only 12 minutes – or even 17.

We then do an outdoor shoot to round out your senior photo experience. While most of our clients choose their senior pictures from the outdoor session, they all agree that the studio session was a blast. And that it was a necessary step in creating the trust and sense of connection that makes our high school senior photos stand out.

At C1M, we mix New England friendliness and charm with the slight edge of fashion photography. We’ve been told our seniors “glow.” That’s not something we achieve with Photoshop; it’s a reflection of the time we take to connect with our clients. That connection shows in the images we capture of strong, dynamic young women and men on the cusp of adulthood.

We do charge a $300 retainer that is due when you book your first session. 100% of this retainer is applicable to print or product purchases. Now, you may feel like, “oh, here’s the catch!” Not at all. Let me explain. We do take our time with each high school senior we photograph. We won’t rush you through a session. You can try as many outfits and poses as you wish until we find the combinations that suit you best. We spend time editing the proofs you select as your favorites to make sure that they are the very best they can be. If you elect not to purchase any prints, as is certainly your right, the retainer compensates us for the time invested. But, if you do purchase prints, your entire retainer is applied as a credit towards your order – and, essentially, our investment of time is yours for no charge at all.

As a next step, we invite you to visit our High School Senior Photos page for more information. We’d love to schedule a free, no-obligation chat with you and at least one of your parents to see if the C1M way is your way.
