  • Photoshop: The Power of “After”

It happens – you make your plans for a photo shoot that should be spectacular. You schedule. You haul your gear. You get up at 5:30 AM on a frigid December morning for a sunrise at the beach. And then – the clouds refuse to part and the sun fails to dazzle. Gosh darn it. Don’t you wish there was a class you could take that could overcome things like that?

Guess what … now there is.

Now, of course, we can’t teach you to control the weather. (Yet. We keep trying.) And while we can teach you to have great control over you camera, there are limits to what even the best photographer with the best camera can do.

The shot below was taken on our Photo Elite field trip to Wallis Sands Beach in December. More than one member of the group expressed disappointment that their photos “didn’t look like anything much.” But – each Photo Elite field trip is paired with an editing session, and I think you’ll be amazed what we accomplished with a little PhotoShop class.

Before: a sunrise that didn’t look too impressive

Welcome to the power of “after.” All of that color and drama was there, in the frequencies of light not visible to the eye, or even with the camera. It isn’t the radiant winter sunrise we planned for, but it is not a disappointing photo, either.

And here you see The Power of After

Do you have photos that you wish you could introduce to the power of “after”? Chances are you do. Don’t we all? But diving in to photo editing without a PhotoShop class can be an overwhelming and frustrating experience. It’s an undeniably powerful tool, but it does have a steep learning curve. We can accelerate you up that slope, and you’ll be soaring in no time.

Our first PhotoShop class will be held on Saturday, February 21st, from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM. In this workshop, we’ll cover the basics of PhotoShop – opening files, working with layers, cropping and resizing.

Our second PhotoShop class will be held on Saturday, March 21st, from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM. This workshop we’ll teach you how you can use PhotoShop to improve on reality and get results like what you see above.

You can learn more about these workshops – and see the full range of upcoming classes – by visiting our website. Don’t let Mother Nature defeat you. Attend a PhotoShop class or two, and you, too, will have the Power of After at your command.
