  • Headshots: How often should you update?

    headshots

Our clients often wonder how long their headshots will be good for. It’s not a bad question. On one hand, your headshot is an investment, and not one that most people can afford to make too frequently. As with any purchase, when you commit to buying a high-value product, you do so with the idea that it should last for a long time.

On the other hand, your headshot is – as we’ve said many times – your best and most important first impression tool. You really can’t afford for it to feel dated or stale.

Conventional wisdom in the headshots industry says that you should update every 3 to 5 years, and that’s a pretty good rule of thumb. Chances are that in that amount of time you will have changed. We would add that it’s worth an update anytime you or your job have changed enough such that your current image no longer portrays you accurately. That doesn’t mean every hair trim or new pair of glasses warrants a visit to a studio. But, if you’ve overhauled your style completely, or if you’ve been promoted to a position in which you feel you need to project more polished professionalism, it’s probably worth at least considering new headshots.

If you think it’s time for an update of your own, we can help. And if you aren’t sure, we can help with that, too. Visit our website at http://c1mpp.com/headshots.html to learn more.
